The Science behind
makes science fun, but there is of course some serious thinking behind what we do.
We provide demonstrations of scientific phenomena, plus explanations designed to stimulate young imaginations, and in doing so we support key stages 1 and 2.
Socratic Learning (or asking questions)
Everything is designed to stimulate imaginations and start children asking questions. Children need to be curious about things they observe, and want to experience and explore the world about them with all their senses. The courses and activities we provide will help them build the experience to develop their understanding of key scientific ideas.
Demonstrations encourage questions
In our demonstrations, we provide examples of scientific phenomena. Physical Processes including Forces and Motion, Light and Sound can all be demonstrated, in memorable, original and dramatic ways. Many of these are surprising, and designed to get children thinking about the reasons why things happen the way they do. Questions are encouraged, and wherever possible, we will provide explanations which will help fit these phenomena into contexts the children already know.
Suitable for Children of all ages
Because of the experience of the boffins, we are able to tailor the level of the presentation to suit the ages and comprehension of the audience.
Developing an understanding and a fondness of science
In this way we hope to build understanding of the part science has played in the development of many familiar things.
We will also bring in the idea of looking for scientific explanations, and introduce simple scientific language and terms.
We believe we can help children develop the ways of thinking which will help them learn and enjoy science in the years to come.
